Teaching Career

The 2012-2013 school year will begin my 10th year in education.  The first four years of my teaching career were in Richmond, IN.  There I taught grades 2,4, and 6.  I had the unique job of sharing a 2nd and 4th grade classroom with 2 of Richmond's Literacy Coordinators.  I was responsible for all the math, science, and social studies for these 2 grade levels, while integrating literacy concepts.  Besides my classroom duties I was also the math/science resource representative for our school. I sat on numerous textbook adoption committees, and wrote and received a grant with 3 other colleagues totaling more than $350,000 for school reform.

I decided to move back to the Indianapolis area to be closer to family and friends in 2008.  This move brought me to my current teaching position at Immaculate Heart of Mary.  For my first 2 years I taught 6th grade and the past 2 I have taught 7th and 8th grade literature.  I love IHM, especially the staff and families and could not imagine being in any other school.  I am looking forward to a another great year filled with learning and of course lots of memories!

Outside of School

In a close second to teaching my 2nd love is traveling!  I have had the opportunity to travel to many different parts of the United States and the world.  Earler in 2011 I flew over to Singapre and Bali to attend a family wedding.  WOW, what a trip of a lifetime.  Some of the other places I have enjoyed traveling to are Rome and Venice, Italy, Arizona, Philly, and my favorite New York City.  New York City is one of my favorite places to visit, primarily for the Broadway shows and the SHOPPING!

I have two 4-legged children.  Their names are Harry, golden retriever and Franklin, beagle.  They love playing ball, going for walks, and watching any movie with dogs in it.
